Taking inspiration from the world-renowned Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, New Orleans puts its own unique spin on the festivities. More than two centuries ago, the roots of Oktoberfest were planted during a joyous wedding celebration. In 1810, Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig tied the knot with Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen, and the festivities lasted for several days.

The event was marked by an abundance of merriment, featuring indulgent feasts, exhilarating horse races, and, of course, copious amounts of drinks. Little did they know that this grand celebration would evolve into the world-renowned Oktoberfest that would also make its way to many parts of the world, including New Orleans.
